It has probably been close to a decade since I last read this book and it was always my favorite school assigned book.
Summary: The narrator of the story is Nick Carraway, a young man in his late 20s who recently moved to West Egg. He lives next door to a man by the name of Jay Gatsby. Mr. Gatsby is known for throwing fabulous parties that are attended by many important people. But what no one knows is that Gatsby is madly in love with a woman who lives across the sound and that he throws the parties for her with the hopes that one day she will attend one.
Review: I always loved this book and it was just as good as I remember it. It’s an exciting tale of love, carelessness, and frivolousness in the Jazz age, the Roaring 20’s. It is always thrilling, in my opinion, to read classics like this. It’s a first hand experience of what it was like in those times with the authors own twists thrown in.
I highly recommend reading this novel if you have not already done so. It’s truly an American Classic.
