The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks; 384 pages

Logan Thibault was a marine. He did three tours in Iraq and somehow managed to make it out alive. In some way, he attributes his making it out alive to the photo of a woman he found when he first got there. Now, after having left the service, Logan has trekked across the country on foot to find this woman. Logan’s best friend told him it was his destiny to find this woman, that he owed her a debt. Just what Logan owed her, he was about to find out.

This is a typical Nicholas Sparks book. It has your love story and it has an air of mystery. You’re never quite sure what’s going to happen which keeps you reading it. It was a light, easy read that I was able to get through in two days.

One of the nice things about Nicholas Sparks books is the fact that there’s no heavy plot line. You know he’s going to wrap the whole story up in the requisite 400 pages that makes a good standalone novel. He’s never going to leave you stumped over some unanswered question, or forget to tie up loose ends. However, his books are ones I can’t read a lot of at once. I don’t know, maybe it’s the act that they’re all romance books that does it but if I were to try to read two of his books in a row I would get bored. I feel like they are all very similar to some extent so I try to space out reading them.

Overall it was a good book. I really enjoyed it, the storyline, the characters, all of it was great.
