“Nothing is easier than self deceit for what each man wishes that he also believes to be true” – Demosthenes
Laura Stone is one of the most popular professors at Monroe College. She teaches a class on Dantes Inferno and the nine levels of hell. She is also having an affair with one of her students.
Trixie Stone is a fourteen year old high school freshman. She was in love for the first time and had her heart broken. Then she was raped.
Daniel Stone is an artist currently writing the next installment of his comic book series. He is also watching his daughter grow up, grow apart from him, and struggle to deal with the world around her.
For all of them everything is changing.
Another beautifully written book by Jodi Picoult. This book is all about finding out who you really are when the world around you is falling apart. It is about learning to be true to who you are and not who everyone thinks you should be.
The characters will make you hate them, make you want to weep with them, be happy when things go right. I’ve never come across another author who tells her stories as wonderfully as Picoult does. She knows how to craft a character to make them someone you think you know only to find out you really don’t.
Absolutely wonderful book.
