Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books Every History Lover Should Read

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by The Broke and the Bookish. This weeks topic is:

“10 books every X should read”

Seeing as I am a huge fan of historical fiction, mine is 10 books every history lover should read! I hope you enjoy 🙂

   1) Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon- a lot of people think the first book is dull and too long but once you get to the heart of the story …. Just wow. And it is so interesting to read about the 1700s.
 2) All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr- by far one of the best historical fiction books I’ve ever read.

   3) Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys- one of my new favorite authors because of her characters and the untold stories she tells
 4) Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

   5) The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah- I was unsure of this one when I first started it but I quickly fell in love!
 6) Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

   7) The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult- her first attempt at historical fiction and I thought it was amazing!
 8) Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein- and exciting story about women during World War II

   9) Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay- another untold story but one that was heartbreaking and incredible to read about
 10) The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson- this one is narrative nonfiction but it was an amazing read! Such a cool story, even if the architectural stuff was a bit over my head.

What historical fiction books would make your list?
