Belles, bank robbers, and other bad ass girls

A Tyranny of Petticoats is a compilation of short stories set throughout US history. Each story follows a woman experiencing the struggles of her time. There’s such a diverse cast of characters, ranging from pirates to high society women to free black women in the south to hippie lesbians. There were so many interesting characters that made the stories so much fun to read. All the characters were strong women in their own way and I really enjoyed reading all the short stories.

I am not going to write a review for each individual story because it would take too long but my average rating was 4.25 stars for all the stories. Most of them had me wishing that they were full length novels instead of short stories. But I felt satisfied by all the stories, even the ones I wanted to be full length novels. They still left you feeling like you read enough of the story to actually know what was going on and the ending was always satisfying.

Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5 stars
