Started with a Bang ….

Ended with a total flop.

I decided to put together a bit of a discussion post here.

We all have that one series that we got hooked on from book one. A series that was so awesome you couldn’t wait for the rest of the books to come out! And then the next one did…. and it wasn’t as good as the first …. and then another came out and it totally disappointed you.

For me that series is ….

The Divergent series.

I absolutely loved the first book! My sister bought it for me for Christmas about a year after it came out because she thought it would be something that I would enjoy. I started it not long after and read it in about 2 days.

At the time Insurgent had just been released and I ran out to buy it so I could read it immediately! I enjoyed it, but definitely not as much as the first book. Now I had another year to wait for the next book to come out and I was excited to see how the trilogy would end.

Then Allegiant came out. And wow was I disappointed. Never have I been more disappointed in the ending of a series ever! It was just horrible! The only thing that didn’t make it a complete waste of time, for me, was the ending. It was the only part of the book I enjoyed.

So, I’d like to know, which series started off with a bang and then totally flopped at the end for you?

  1. You’re not alone. I couldn’t agree with you more about the Divergent series. Although the ending was consistent with the character development up to that point, it also felt as though the author hadn’t planned out the third book before starting the first and was just making it up as she went along! 😦

  2. Completely agree!
bought the boxset with Divergent & Insurgent. Loved Divergent & liked Insurgent (though not as much as Divergent) and then I had to wait for Allegiant. Was so excited to read it and see how it all would end and then that book happened.. it sucked so much! the only good thing about it; that ending, i know lot’s of people hate it, btu for me it was pretty much the only thing done right..

  3. I bought the box set for this trilogy because my best friend forced me to see the first movie and I enjoyed it a reasonable amount. But now that I’ve seen so many people say the same things as you I can’t really be bothered to even start the books.
