Top Ten Tuesday: Underrated Books

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks topic is…. 10 underrated/hidden gems I’ve read in the last year or so!

Here’s my list!

1) A Tyranny of Petticoats by Jessica Spotswood (a collection of short stories)

2) Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell (a Peter Pan retelling)

3) The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner (a ya debut)

4) All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (historical fiction)

5) I Hunt Killers series by Barry Lyga (ya psychological thriller)

6) The Eye of Minds by James Dashner (a video game world taken over by a cyber terrorist)

7) Asylum series by Madeleine Roux (a ghost story meets ya)

8) Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein (ya historical fiction)

9) Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys (the story of a young bookworm in 1950s New Orleans)

10) The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah (historical fiction- a women’s view of WWII)

It’s obvious I think more people should read historical fiction seeing as half my list is from that genre …. go read some historical fiction and then tell me about all the books I should read! But seriously, if you have any recommendations I’m all ears!

  1. Great list, I definitely 100% agree with the Jasper Dent trilogy those books are amazing and so underrated! I feel like I never hear people talking about them so I’m really glad they’re on your list (and that you’ve read them period ,haha)! 😁

    1. I absolutely loved that series!! I’m so glad I’ve found someone else who has read and enjoyed them! I really love talking about underrated books because I want to be able to talk to people about them!

  2. Sanctum looks very creepy!
And, I feel I must add a Tyranny of Petticoats to my list simply because of the title – that should be the collective noun for a group of women gossiping in Pride and Prejudice ‘a tyranny of petticoats!’

    1. The whole Asylum series was the perfect mix of creepy and adventure.
And A Tyranny of Petticoats was a collection of short stories about strong female characters so it’s definitely worth the read! It features some amazing authors!
