Spelled by Betsy Schow

Spelled by Betsy Schow; 345 pages

Summary:

Dorthea is crown princess of Emerald and her family carries a curse. As a result she doesn’t get out much- or ever. When her parents arrange a marriage for her it is finally the last straw. So Dorthea makes a wish on a cursed star and the wish royally backfires. Now she must find the mysterious Wizard of Oz to undo the spell and save the land of Story.

My Thoughts:

I liked Dorthea right from the get go in this book. You can definitely tell she’s a spoiled brat but for some reason it didn’t rub me the wrong way with her. Maybe it’s because the whole book had an over the top sense to it.

I loved the little quotes and survival tips at the top of each chapter too! They were so cute and funny! Everything about this book was cute and funny and I really enjoyed it.

I loved the storyline as well. It was a different kind of retelling but it all worked very nicely. I liked how it was a bunch of fairy tales intertwined to make it a really unique story.

I’m really looking forward to reading the second book now!
